What is Power Delivery (PD) in chargers?

Power Delivery (PD) is a fast charging technology used in chargers that allows for higher power levels to be delivered to devices. It is a universal standard, developed by the USB Implementers Forum , designed to improve the charging speed and flexibility of USB-connected devices. It enables the device to take on more power in a shorter amount of time, which results in faster charging. It is a universal charging standard, which means it can be used across a wide range of devices.

Power Delivery (PD) is a fast-charging protocol used in USB devices to deliver higher levels of power, allowing faster charging and more flexibility. Introduced as part of the USB-C standard, PD allows a charger to deliver up to 100 watts of power, which is much higher than standard USB chargers. This makes it suitable for not just smartphones but also tablets, laptops, and other power-hungry devices.

A Fast Charger with PD technology
Currently, two mainstream fast-charging technologies are on the market: the first is QC (Quick Charge), and the other is the more recent PD (Power Delivery Charger). PD chargers are one of the fast-charging protocols released by the USB-IF that are aimed to provide a more efficient charging technology than traditional charging methods. The new generation of PD chargers can use the PPS feature to perfectly integrate QC and satisfy the need for fast charging. In addition to supporting a variety of output voltages and currents, PD chargers also support 3C devices such as mobile phones, cameras, and laptops as the usage scope becomes more and more extensive.

The Key Features of Power Delivery:
Higher Power Output: PD supports power levels up to 100W (20V/5A), allowing for faster charging of larger devices like laptops, tablets, and smartphones.

Dynamic Power Adjustment: PD in wall charger enables dynamic negotiation of power between the charger and the device. This means it can adjust voltage and current based on what the device needs, ensuring efficient charging enough.
Bidirectional Charging: PD can both charge a device and allow that device to supply power to another, such as when a laptop powers a peripheral.
Standardized Connectors: PD works with USB-C connectors, which have become the standard for most modern devices, including phones, laptops, and accessories.

Xdouble 's  Benefits of The Power Delivery (PD) in chargers:
Faster Charging: Significantly reduces charging times compared to traditional wall chargers.
Device Protection: The dynamic adjustment ensures that devices receive only the required amount of power, reducing the risk of overheating or overcharging.

Versatility application : Can be used to charge a wide range of devices, from smartphones to larger electronics like laptops.
